Planning A Once In A Lifetime South African Vacation

Vacations can get mundane and repetitive, going to the same places year after year but they don't have to. Why not consider a location that will take you on a once in a lifetime trip and break out of the rut? South Africa is one of those places. There are many things to experience there that are not like anywhere else in the world. Why not check out a few of these great destinations this year?

Take a Trip To The Falls

Victoria Falls is, without question, one of the most famous and spectacular natural sites in the world. Located on the Zambezi River, the site is visited by nearly 300,000 people a year and is considered the largest waterfall in the world. Locals to the area say the roar of the falls can be heard so 40 kilometers away and the spray of the water is known to rise some 400 meters from the river. Without question, this could be a once in a lifetime vacation trip if you can manage to get there.

Go On a Photo Safari

If you are making the trip to South Africa, a great vacation option would be to take a photo safari through the back country. The region is filled with exotic animals including lions, zebras, elephants, and giraffes, as well as many other species. There are options for tours that include other sites in the area and can be tailored to the areas you really want to focus on.

Visit the Cities of South Africa

Take a hike up Table Mountain and get a unique view of Cape Town. The cape region has many small cities to explore and could take several days but the time will be well spent. From Cape Town, you can take a ferry to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was held, if that holds your interest, or visit Boulder Beach and see the penguin colony there. There is no lack of things to do in this great African City.

Take a Wine Tour

The region around Cape Town also boasts many unique wineries and vineyards that are open to tours and tastings. The variety of wines produced there is varied but are known to be some of the best in the world. If you are a connoisseur of fine wine, a trip to the area could easily be one to check off the bucket list. Even if you are not going for the wine, if you are visiting Cape Town, a day trip to the countryside to check out the wine making is a worthwhile diversion.
